Project Overview:
Pigments are coloring substances used to impart color to various materials. They can be classified as either soluble or insoluble, as well as organic or inorganic. Inorganic pigments are typically derived from minerals and have been used by humans since ancient times in body decoration and wall art. Organic pigments, on the other hand, are often extracted from plants and marine organisms, such as indigo, gamboge, or Tyrian purple from mollusks. Most pigments are water-insoluble fine powders, capable of dispersing in oils, solvents, and resins. These substances offer high hiding power and tinting strength, excellent light stability, and are commonly used in paints, inks, plastics, and rubber products as colorants.

Material Overview – Iron Oxide Pigment:
Iron oxide, also known as ferric oxide, is found in forms like red ochre, burnt sienna, and Venetian red. Its chemical formula is Fe₂O₃, and it appears as a reddish-brown powder that dissolves in hydrochloric acid. This pigment—commonly referred to as red iron oxide—is widely used in paints, printing inks, plastics, and rubber. It also serves as a catalyst, metal polishing compound, glass additive, and iron raw material in industrial applications.

Equipment Overview – Flash Dryer for Iron Oxide:
The iron oxide flash dryer is a modern drying system designed for continuous processing. It integrates drying, pulverizing, and classification in a single unit. This equipment is particularly well-suited for materials in slurry, paste, or filter cake form. The system includes a heater, feeder, crushing agitator, classifier, drying chamber, cyclone separator, bag filter, and exhaust fan.

Working Principle:
Hot air enters the drying chamber tangentially at the base, creating a high-speed spiral airflow. The material is introduced via a controlled feeder into the chamber, where it rapidly mixes with the hot air. Agglomerated or wet feed is simultaneously dispersed by the agitator and exposed to thermal energy, enabling rapid moisture removal. Dried, fine particles are carried upwards by the air stream to the classifier and then separated from the gas stream in a cyclone or filter system. Collected product is packaged, while filtered air is safely vented.

Hauptmerkmale:

  1. High-speed drying & short residence time: Minimizes material sticking and degradation, ideal for heat-sensitive pigments. Direct drying into fine powder eliminates the need for secondary crushing or screening.

  2. Adjustable moisture and particle size: Built-in classifier and swirl plate allow for precise control over drying outcomes. The special airflow design reduces resistance and ensures uniform drying.

  3. Enhanced bottom zone cooling: A dedicated cooling and pneumatic sealing system prevents overheating and material degradation at the chamber base.

  4. Fine control of final product quality: By adjusting feed rate, hot air temperature, and classifier settings, the system ensures consistent moisture content and particle size in the final product.
